She’s been six different people in six different places: Madeline in Ohio, Isabelle in Missouri, Olivia in Kentucky . . . But now that she’s been transplanted to rural Louisiana, she has decided that this fake identity will be her last.
Witness Protection has taken nearly everything from her. But for now, they’ve given her a new name, Megan Rose Jones, and a horrible hair color. For the past eight months, Meg has begged her father to answer one question: What on earth did he do – or see – that landed them in this god-awful mess? Meg has just about had it with all the Suits’ rules — and her dad’s silence. If he won’t help, it’s time she got some answers for herself.
But Meg isn’t counting on Ethan Landry, an adorable Louisiana farm boy who’s too smart for his own good. He knows Meg is hiding something big. And it just might get both of them killed. As they embark on a perilous journey to free her family once and for all, Meg discovers that there’s only one rule that really matters — survival.
Today we have Ashley Elston, the very author of THE RULES OF DISAPPEARING talking about "A day in the life of Ashley Elston". Excited, guys?
So here's Ashley :
With three sons, a small business and trying to write in any spare moment, my waking hours are pretty crazy but here is an example of a typical day.
7:02 am – This is usually when I propel myself from the bed because I have overslept AGAIN and only have 23 minutes until the kids leave for school. Luckily, my older boys get themselves up on their own so I only have to get the four year old dressed and fed.
7:25am – I collapse against the kitchen counter. Inevitably, there were papers to sign, lunches to pack and last minute forms to fill out. At this point, I vow for the hundredth time that I will set everything out the night before so this doesn’t happen again.
8:00 am – Exercise time – my new favorite thing is Hot Yoga!
9:30-10 am – I’m in the office at our house. I shuffle between work for our landscaping business and book stuff. Also, answering emails, checking the social media, and any other distraction that pops up.
2:15 pm – I leave the house to begin my carpool routine.
3:30 – Carpool routine is over. I know, ridiculous.
4-6 pm – On any given day, there are practices for various sports, appointments, etc… I have been known to drive 50 miles in this time frame and never leave my town.
6:00 pm – Dinner. Either I cook or pick something up – totally depends on how crazy the afternoon was.
7-9 pm – My entire family usually ends up on one couch (yes, all five of us) and we watch TV or talk or laugh or read. There is also the occasional light saber battle: boys vs dad. It’s epic.
9:00 pm – The search for all of the stuffed animals my 4 year old likes sleep with begins. Right now, his favorites are: a bear named Teddy, a monkey named George Washington, a giraffe named Shorty G, a kangaroo named Roo and Blue Blanket. Not a blue blanket but Blue Blanket.
9:30 pm – Hopefully at this point all kids are in bed. Notice the word “hopefully”.
10:00 pm – This is my favorite time to write. The house is quiet. No phones. No TV.
Midnight: This is when I usually crawl into bed and it takes only seconds before I’m out.
And then it all begins again 7 hours later…
